YAMANASHI COTTAGE RENOVATION DESIGN

概要

山梨県・富士川町にて担当させていただいたログハウスのリノベーションプロジェクトは、地域の活性化と既存建築の再生を目的に、自治体と連携して進め、まずは民泊として現地の関係者が運営できるようなブランド体制を構築しながら、空間デザインから運営体制・オペレーション設計などを担当いたしました。

建物に新たな価値を吹き込み、訪れる人々に富士川町ならではの美しさを再発見してもらうことを目指しています。

コンセプト

田んぼが広がる富士川町の舂米のエリアにインスパイアされ、「KÓME（コメ）」と名付けた木造コテージは、日本の機能美を軸に、ヨーロッパのデザインエッセンスや童話の世界に入り込んだかのようなデザインディテールを取り入れ、都心から離れて心身を休められる、温かく居心地のよい空間を提供することを目指しました。

デザイン

壁や家具の一部は既存のものを再利用・カスタマイズし、建物が持つ本来の魅力を残し、キッチンとベッドルームはフルリノベーションを行い、滞在の快適性と体験価値を高めました。

庭にあった物置小屋をサウナへと改修したことも、本プロジェクトならではの挑戦です。

This renovation project in Fujikawa-cho, Yamanashi, was developed in collaboration with the city as part of a wider initiative to revitalize the area—breathing new life into existing buildings and inviting people to discover the quiet beauty of rural Japan.

Concept

KÓME is a small wooden cottage with a distinctive atmosphere, where Japanese practicality meets European design sensibilities, finished with subtle, fairytale-like details. The goal was to create a space that feels warm, intimate, and restorative—a gentle escape from the bustle of Tokyo.

Design Solution

Where possible, original walls and furniture were reused and carefully customized to preserve the cottage’s character. In contrast, the kitchen and bedroom were fully renovated to elevate comfort and enhance the overall stay experience.

 

One of the most enjoyable challenges was transforming a former garden storage cabin into a sauna—a renovation experiment that brought valuable lessons and sparked many ideas to carry forward into future cottage projects.
